Artwork Requirements & Quality
These terms ensure the submitted files are suitable for production, which helps manage customer expectations and minimize preparation fees.
-
Preferred Formats: Vector formats (AI, EPS, SVG, or PDF) are preferred due to their scalability without quality loss. High-resolution raster files (PSD, TIFF, PNG, or JPEG) may be accepted but must meet specific resolution criteria.
-
Resolution: Raster files must be sized to the actual print dimensions and have a minimum resolution of 300 DPI (dots per inch) to ensure a clean print.
-
Font Handling: All text/fonts in the design must be converted to outlines or paths to avoid font substitution issues if the company does not own the specific font file.
-
Color Matching: Customers should be informed that monitor colors are not accurate for printing. For specific color needs, customers must provide a specific Pantone Matching System (PMS) coated number for color matching.
-
Minimums: Text should be no smaller than 8pt and lines no thinner than 1pt to ensure legibility, especially in embroidery.
Intellectual Property & Legal Liability
These clauses protect both the customer's ownership of their design and the print company from legal ramifications of printing copyrighted material.
-
Ownership: The customer retains all intellectual property rights to their submitted artwork.
-
License to Print: The customer grants the company a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, and modify (as needed for production) the artwork solely for the purpose of fulfilling the specific order.
-
Customer Certification: By submitting artwork, the customer certifies they have the necessary rights or written permission from the copyright holder to use and reproduce the image(s).
-
Indemnification: The customer agrees to indemnify and hold the company harmless from any legal action, demands, or costs (including attorney's fees) arising from claims of copyright or trademark infringement related to the customer's supplied artwork.
-
Prohibited Content: The company reserves the right to refuse orders with artwork depicting offensive, indecent, or unlawful subject matter.
Disclaimers & Revisions
These terms outline the process for proofs, potential errors, and limitations of liability.
-
Art Preparation Fees: Artwork not supplied in "print-ready" format may be subject to additional design fees for necessary adjustments, color separations, or redrawing.
-
Proof Approval: A digital mockup/proof will be provided for review. The customer is responsible for verifying all design elements, placement, colors, and spelling. The company is not liable for errors in the final product once the proof has been approved by the customer.
-
Limitation of Liability: The company is not responsible for misprints, spoilage (though a small allowance for variations may exist), or missed deadlines due to errors in customer-supplied files or shipping issues.
-
Promotional Use: The company may use images of the finished product for marketing purposes unless the customer explicitly requests otherwise in writing.
